These committees, chaired primarily by AAMC Board of Governors members, develop the association's programs and support the board's work. Please get in touch with the chair if you want to learn more about a specific committee or participate in its mission.

Alumnae Awards Committee

Mission: To recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of Mills alumnae.

Alumnae of Color Committee

Mission: To foster retention and recruitment of alumnae, students, faculty, and administrators of color; to serve as a force for change, confronting racism, prejudice, and discrimination; to support a thriving, multicultural Mills community where people of color are valued and empowered as full participants.

Alumnae Student Relations (ASR) Committee

Mission: To sponsor programs that help create a positive relationship between students and the AAMC. This ongoing relationship encourages students to become supportive and active members of the AAMC when they become alumnae.

Branches and Clubs Committee

Mission: To build a strong, active, global network of Mills alumnae who have positive feelings about Mills College and the AAMC by establishing a mutually beneficial relationship between the AAMC Board of Governors and the regional branches/clubs. The Board of Governors will continue to work collegially with the Alumnae Relations staff, as well as forge its own independent relationship with branches/clubs.

Communications Committee

Mission: To develop and implement strategic communications that deepen alumnae connections with the AAMC and Mills and increase the resources available to both organizations.

Finance Committee

Mission: To facilitate the development of the annual AAMC budget, to ensure adherence to the budget, to oversee the investment fund, and to review the annual audit.

Governance Committee & Bylaws Working Group

Mission: To build a strong understanding across the AAMC community of the AAMC articles of incorporation, what it means to be a 501c3 mutual benefit corporation, the guiding principles, and underlying AAMC bylaws. Support any revision or updating of the AAMC Bylaws, articles of incorporation, and policies.

Hospitality Committee

Mission: The mission of the Hospitality Committee is to make AAMC members and guests feel comfortable in their clubhouse (Reinhardt Alumnae House) and at other AAMC events. To create a congenial setting, uphold traditions of hospitality, and care for and oversee communal spaces.

Latina Alums Committee

Mission: To build a global network of Mills College Latina/e/x and Chicana/x alumnae, alumni, alums, and students to uplift our collective diversity and advance intergenerational mobility, success, and opportunity. Membership: Membership is open to all alumnae/alumni/alums members of the AAMC and current Mills College students, including those who identify as Latina, Latine, Latinx, Chicana, and Chicanx.

Life Long Learning Committee

Mission: To create programming, classes, and lectures that address topics alumnae are interested in learning more about and the life/professional issues that alumnae are experiencing today. The programs serve as a vehicle for alumnae to reconnect with the College, the AAMC, and each other.

LGBTQ+ Committee

Mission: To support the LGBTQ+ community of the AAMC.

Nominating Committee

Mission: To identify candidates for the Board of Governors and board officers and to submit those candidates to the Board of Governors for a vote.

Per the bylaws, the Nominating Committee shall have seven (7) members, at least three (3) of whom must serve concurrently on the Board of Governors. At its last meeting of each fiscal year, the Board of Governors shall elect a Chair of the Nominating Committee for the next fiscal year from among its members who will continue to serve on the Board in the next fiscal year. The Nominating Committee Chair shall serve a term of one (1) year commencing on July 1 of the year in which she is elected and until the commencement of the term of her duly elected and qualified successor. At the annual meeting of members of the Association, the membership of the Association shall elect six (6) additional members, at least two (2) of whom shall be Governors for the next fiscal year, and three (3) alternates to the Nominating Committee for the next fiscal year. Any member nominated shall be present at the meeting, or shall have agreed, in advance, to have her name put forth. Nominating Committee members shall serve for a term of one (1) year commencing on July 1 of the year in which they are elected and until the commencement of the terms of their duly elected and qualified successors.

2023-2024 Elected Committee Members:

Reinhardt Alumnae House Committee

Mission: To ensure that Reinhardt Alumnae House (RAH) remains the exclusive home of the AAMC, as affirmed in the 2017 Memorandum of Collaboration (“MOC”). Pursuant to the MOC, the RAH Committee will meet annually with the AAMC through its Board of Governors and with the College to address particular program needs, usage of RAH, including the use of non-office space such as the living room, kitchen, and gardens, and how it is offered to others for rental. The RAH Committee will also work collaboratively with the College, as each deems necessary and has funding available, to strategize and undertake capital improvements to the building. The RAH Committee is also responsible for protecting the interests of the AAMC in RAH.

Travel Committee

Mission: To create a travel program providing an opportunity for continuing education and expansion of knowledge through experience, to provide a group opportunity drawn together by an interest in Mills College, to reinforce a positive image for Mills College, and to bring in revenue to the AAMC endowment fund.

Volunteer Development Committee

Mission: To recruit and sustain a corps of alumnae volunteers engaged in productive, fulfilling roles supporting the AAMC and Mills College. Working closely with our College partners and other AAMC committees, we serve as a central point within the AAMC for marketing volunteer opportunities and identifying, engaging, supporting, and stewarding our alumnae volunteers.
