Nominating Committee - Governors
-
Myila Granberry

I have served on the nominating committee intermittently for the last 8 years. I understand the importance of looking at each candidate with an open mind, as well as understanding how their skills and abilities can be an asset to the board.
Relevant Experience:
AAMC Nominating Committee;
AAMC Board of Governors;
Alumnae of Color Committee - Co Chair;
Lifelong Learning Committee - Co Chair. -
Catherine Ladnier
1970
I am currently serving on the Board of Governors for my second term. I am active in the Tristate Club. I have served on the nominating committee in the past and would consider it an honor to serve again. It is a daunting challenge as the nominees are incredibly talented, reflecting on the legacy of Mills as nurturing and inspiring. In the 1980s, I established the Eva and Harry Ladnier Scholarship. Over the years, I have received many letters from recipients, expressing not only their appreciation but more importantly what a Mills education meant to them.
Relevant Experience:
Beyond my board service, I lead programs on the WWII incarceration of Japanese Americans, using letters Mills students and families sent to the President and Mills family. These letters honor Mills College’s legacy as a champion for students, standing against injustice. -
Glodean Champion - Committee Chair
2006
Glodean brings extensive experience in organizational transformation, change management, and project management to the AAMC. With a degree in English from Mills and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from California College of the Arts, Glodean currently works with organizations as a Transformational Change Leader, Consultant, and Motivational Speaker. She’s served the AAMC as a facilitator for the Annual Meeting and Leadership Retreat, where she helped focus the Board on its goals moving forward.Glodean is eager to leverage her skills and experience in group facilitation, conflict resolution, and “cat herding” (fostering cohesive teamwork) for the AAMC. With a focus on collaboration and transparency, her goal is to help guide the organization toward a brighter future filled with purpose.
Nominating Committee - Members

Lisa Kremer
1990
The AAMC is our lifeboat: the holder of our memories and traditions, and our best voice for Mills’ values. We need strong leadership to carry us through these difficult transition years. I am an attorney and advise nonprofits, and have been on several nonprofit boards. I held leadership roles as a student (dorm president, class co-president, Weekly editor) and as an alum (AAR, class agent, Puget Sound Mills Club, Nominating Committee). It’s still true, what an alum told me my first week at Mills: “You’ll be at Mills four years, but you’ll be an alum all your life.”Relevant Experience:
At Mills: dorm president, class co-president, Weekly co-editor. As an alum: AAR 10+ years, class co-agent 14 years, AAMC NomCom, Alum Engagement Committee, bent twig mom. Other: Attorney advising nonprofits; have been on several nonprofit boards. Also real estate transactions, business succession and contracts, dispute resolution, intellectual property, privacy. -
Selena September
2002
As an experienced AAMC board member passionate about Mills' legacy, I’d like to continue serving our community through the nominating committee. Mills transformed my life as a struggling single mother, providing community, empowerment, and a great education that propelled my career and life journey. With extensive leadership experience including vice-dean at a Chinese university and program director roles, I understand how to evaluate candidates. My decade in higher education, community outreach, and cultural experience across multiple countries have honed my ability to identify talent and build bridges. I'm committed to recruiting candidates who will advance AAMC's mission and strengthen our Mills community.Relevant Experience:
As vice-dean and program director, I hired and evaluated candidates. AAMC board member. Community building experience. Communications council member skilled in collaborative work. As a campaign director, I managed outreach to 50,000+ students with a volunteer team. These roles taught me to identify leadership qualities and work with diverse groups. -
Deborah Wood
1975
My leadership—within the AAMC, the Board of Trustees, and my professional and organizational capacities—uniquely qualify me to serve on the Nominating Committee. Going forward, the strength of the AAMC's governance structure relies upon its officers’ collective sustainable vision for the AAMC. The last Mills College classes graduate in 2025/2026; the challenge is to attract membership across all ages and class years to sustain the AAMC. The Nominating Committee's role is to propose candidates who will do just that. The breadth of my leadership experience—including executive-level candidate evaluations—position me to add to the Nominating Committee’s important work.
Relevant Experience:

Leah Zippert
1990, 2019
As an alumna twice over - 1990 and 2019 - I'm fully vested in seeing the Alumna Association continue to provide us all with the opportunity to connect. The best way to do that is to assure that the AAMC has a process to find excellent leadership. NomCom provides that role. I would bring my years of experience working with elected officials and the public, along with my understanding of the AAMC to the NomCom.
