Join David W. Bernstein, professor of music at Mills College, for a lecture on the CCM Tape Archive and the history of the groundbreaking work in experimental music at Mills. His talk will feature a series of examples from the CCM Tape Archive.

David W. Bernstein is professor of music at Mills College, where he has served on the faculty since 1989. His publications in the field of experimental music include The San Francisco Tape Music Center: 1960s Counterculture and the Avant-Garde (University of California Press), Writings through John Cage’s Music, Poetry, and Art (University of Chicago Press), and essays for Boulez in Context, ed., Edward Campbell, The Cambridge Companion to John Cage, ed., David Nicholls; John Cage: Music, Philosophy, and Intention, 1933-50, ed., David Patterson; The New York Schools of Music and the Visual Arts ed., Steven Johnson; and Alvin Curran: Live in Roma, ed., Daniele Margoni Tortora. He is presently writing a book on Pauline Oliveros titled Resonance in the Sound Field for the University of Illinois Press and Music in the Fault Zone, an edited volume on the history of experimental music at Mills.
