A Mills education in political, legal, and economic policy taught me that institutions are shaped by the people who steward them and that good stewardship requires both rigor and care. Since 2015, I've applied that professionally: evaluating talent, building cross-functional programs, and solving problems that require holding competing interests at once. I know not to underestimate the power of a focused, committed group. I'd bring that conviction to identifying candidates who are genuinely prepared for what the Board requires, what the institution needs, and what Mills' legacy deserves.
Relevant Experience:
I've led director and VP-level hiring at McKay Brothers and Everlaw, and built cross-organizational programs requiring coalition-building and long-term thinking. I know how to identify not just qualified candidates, but the right people for a specific moment in an organization's life.
What criteria do you think are most important when evaluating candidates for the AAMC Board?
The most important criteria are a candidate's demonstrated ability to navigate complexity and their genuine orientation toward the institution's future. Board service requires a deep understanding of how organizations actually work, not just how they're supposed to do. I'd evaluate candidates on their track record of building consensus under pressure, their capacity to hold a long view, and whether their experience fills a real gap in the Board's current composition.

As an experienced AAMC board member passionate about Mills' legacy, I’d like to continue serving our community through the nominating committee. Mills transformed my life as a struggling single mother, providing community, empowerment, and a great education that propelled my career and life journey. With extensive leadership experience including vice-dean at a Chinese university and program director roles, I understand how to evaluate candidates. My decade in higher education, community outreach, and cultural experience across multiple countries have honed my ability to identify talent and build bridges. I'm committed to recruiting candidates who will advance AAMC's mission and strengthen our Mills community.Relevant Experience:
As vice-dean and program director, I hired and evaluated candidates. AAMC board member. Community building experience. Communications council member skilled in collaborative work. As a campaign director, I managed outreach to 50,000+ students with a volunteer team. These roles taught me to identify leadership qualities and work with diverse groups. What criteria do you think are most important when evaluating candidates for the AAMC Board?
When evaluating candidates, I look for integrity, reliability, and a genuine commitment to the AAMC’s mission. I value people who stay focused on the work, communicate plainly, and follow through in ways that build trust. I pay close attention to candidates who show sound judgment, respect community values, and bring a steady, discerning presence to the Board. These qualities help ensure the AAMC moves forward with clarity, accountability, and a culture that supports real progress.

With a Master’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology and a deep appreciation for the power of organizations, I believe my experience and skills would benefit the AAMC. My research at Mills focused on leadership and volunteerism, and professionally I have served as a staff liaison and group facilitator. I have also held numerous volunteer leadership roles, including president, secretary, parliamentarian, and committee chairmanships. Most importantly, I love Mills and have remained actively engaged. I hope to help strengthen alumnae connections, encourage greater involvement, support a more collaborative Board of Governors, and help the AAMC continue to flourish.
Relevant Experience:
I have served on several nominating committees as member.
While at Mills, I joined the Diversity and Environtment clubs, was president and ran the Jewish Students Organization and Mary Atkins.
My experience on boards of directors are three: one was a counseling agency, one was a social service organization, and one was a synagogue going through a merger.
I have been volunteering since I was 12, first as an officer and then as a committee chairperson. I have been on every kind of committee from adult education to finance to special events.
My masters degree is in Industrial & Organizational Psychology.
What criteria do you think are most important when evaluating candidates for the AAMC Board?
The most important criteria for evaluating candidates are integrity, objectivity, relevant experience, and commitment to the organization’s mission. A needs assessment should identify the skills and knowledge required for a strong board, while outreach and surveys can help identify qualified alumnae. Standardized questions and an unbiased selection process are essential to ensure fair comparison of candidates and to minimize the influence of personal agendae, egos, or subjective judgments.

Serving on the AAMC Board has given me a clear view of what the organization needs to move forward. With over 20 years of experience hiring, evaluating, and managing personnel in major medical centers, I know how to assess people and identify who will genuinely strengthen a team. My nonprofit board service has shown me the importance of balanced skill sets, accountability, and active engagement. I want to help build a lean, professional, mission driven Board that minimizes politics and maximizes impact. I would be honored to support this work on the Nominating Committee.
Relevant Experience:
I bring over 20 years of VP and Director‑level experience in hospital and clinic administration, hiring and managing hundreds of staff at Kaiser, Stanford, and UCSF. I’ve served on multiple nonprofit boards, including the National Music Museum, Ronald McDonald House, the Aurora Singers, and the Vermillion Area Arts Council.
What criteria do you think are most important when evaluating candidates for the AAMC Board?
When evaluating candidates, I look for people who bring real contributions—time, skills, effort, and a genuine commitment to the AAMC’s mission. I prioritize sound judgment, nonprofit experience, and candidates who offer steady follow‑through and a meaningful personal commitment to the organization. I look for people who respect community values and engage fully. I’ve kept close ties with many Mills alums and can identify candidates who will contribute from day one.

I'm a good judge of character because I pay attention to my own integrity. I can listen and speak my mind without fear but I don't need to own a conversation - other people want/need to talk too. I want what's best for Mills and can help find people who will step up with the same aim. I understand that there are/will be challenges for each/any committee or nominating committee member but being a diverse but caring group makes all the difference. I'm willing to be a part of that. I'm used to challenges - my life has been one after another challenge to overcome. I'm a more whole person because of it. If enthusiasm is present, I'm all in for any role. I love (and loved) being around highly intelligent Mills women.
Relevant Experience:
I've been in business organizational and administrative roles in for- and not-for-profits. I've also volunteered for local and national foundations, some involved in fitness. I'm an active athlete thanks to my crew career while at Mills. I volunteered for East Bay Chamber of Commerce. I am a certified Life Coach.
What criteria do you think are most important when evaluating candidates for the AAMC Board?
Leadership. Direct communication with a loving but a take-no-s**t attitude. Someone who is being herself which makes her a good example for others. Being available, responsive and attentive, not going on about how wonderful she is but showing people the depth of her commitments and care. Strength and purpose...
