AAMC 2025 Nominating Committee Elections

The AAMC Nominating Committee deliberates over the course of the year to develop a slate of candidates for the Board of Governors, as well as fill any vacancies that may occur. Committee members review nominees with the goal of putting forward a selection of candidates bringing important and complementary experience to the Board.

To develop a diverse slate of candidates, while keeping in mind the Board’s present composition and the AAMC’s future needs, the committee considers attributes such as:

  • a broad concern for the AAMC and the legacy of Mills College as a whole,

  • a commitment to invest the time and energy needed for effective service,

  • a willingness to understand and desire to work with complex organizations and challenges,

  • leadership and consensus-building skills,

  • experience on boards or in a professional area important to the AAMC’s needs,

  • an interest in and concern for higher education.

After its deliberations, the Nominating Committee presents its selection of candidates to the Board of Governors.

DETAILS:

Nominating Committee members are elected through an election open to all AAMC members. Committee members serve a one-year term, with a maximum of two consecutive terms. Importantly, they cannot run for the Board of Governors in the subsequent term. Eligible candidates include all Mills College alumnae who attended at least one semester. The committee consists of seven members: three from the Board of Governors and four at large from the membership. Additionally, three alternates are chosen to address potential vacancies.

NOTE: Voting will take place over the course of a few days via electronic ballot (paper ballot available upon request) and results will be announced via email prior to the Annual Meeting.
